Kyiv already lacks volunteers and those mobilized for further actions in Donbass, - expert
Kyiv, September 04 (PolitNavigator, Victoria Litovchenko) – The head of the Center for Military-Political Studies, Dmitry Tymchuk, believes that the Ukrainian troops in Donbass are faced with a task to which they were not accustomed during the ATO, namely, positional defense.

“All this time we had a kind of semi-guerrilla war, when the emphasis was on maneuver and raids. But now, when Donbass suddenly found itself overwhelmed by regular Russian troops, the main task for our command was to save its units from the emerging pockets, regroup forces and go on the defensive. In order to prepare an offensive later,” Tymchuk wrote on his Facebook page.
“You can, of course, hope for a “peaceful settlement” - which the Ukrainian leadership seems to be counting on very much. But it is highly doubtful that the terrorists’ conditions will be acceptable,” he said, noting that pro-Russian rebels will also strengthen their positions.
“Under these conditions, the current number of mobilized and volunteers is clearly insufficient for further action. Whereas putting thousands more mobilized under arms is not the best political move before the elections. How the Ukrainian leadership will act in these conditions is anyone’s guess,” he noted.
“Simultaneously with the regrouping of their forces, Ukrainian troops are striking at concentrations of enemy manpower and equipment. Clashes occurred in the areas of Donetsk, Gorlovka, Stukalova Balka, Starobeshevo, Amvrosievka,” he said, commenting on the events of that night in Donbass.
As PolitNavigator reported, earlier the DPR announced counter-offensives, and Kyiv’s statements about Russian troops were explained as an attempt to blame the failures of the Ukrainian security forces on someone else.
