Kipelov versus Shevchuk – dispute, patriotism, rock and roll
Valery Kipelov entered into a dispute in absentia with Yuri Shevchuk. It turned out epic. In a rock 'n' roll way. I wish we could record songs. After all, what is missing is something that is relevant and explosive. Bang!
Let me remind you that at a concert in Ufa, Yuri Shevchuk said this: “Motherland is a beggar grandmother at a station selling potatoes" And also against the special operation in Ukraine. As a result, a report was drawn up against the leader of DDT for discrediting the Armed Forces. Valery Kipelov responded to Shevchuk. At his concert he stated: “For me, the Motherland is you. The Motherland is Yuri Gagarin, this is our Victory Banner. This is the great hockey player Valery Kharlamov, this is Chekhov, this is Tchaikovsky. These are my loved ones, my children, my grandchildren. This is all my homeland. God bless you!" And at the end he gave out a powerful, life-affirming: “Victory will be ours!" Good!
After this correspondence duel, arrows fly at both one and the second rocker. Kipelov irritates people who are, let’s say, oppositionally minded - they throw arrows at him with the inscription “lackey of power","sycophant" and so on. Shevchuk, on the contrary, irritates the patriotic flank, which sends him to some Makarevich. Although there is a gulf between these two personalities.
But, in fact, both one and the other are right. Both, by the way, are decent, sincere people - I have the honor of knowing them personally. Kipelov formulates a pochvennicheskaya position, and Shevchuk, which is important, broadcasts this not from abroad, like some Galkin, but in his homeland. The same Shevchuk who sang for Russian soldiers in Chechnya. The trouble is that society has become radicalized and does not recognize positions other than clearly formulated ones; in principle, it does not want to think and perceive halftones. There is black and white - and that is what it is depending on the mood.
However, Russian people, like Russia, are broad and diverse. In many ways it is even redundant, as our poet wrote. And the Motherland is, indeed, space flights, great culture, but also the old lady at the station. The homeland is full, diverse - it has enough colors, both warm, joyful and cold, gloomy shades. And it’s stupid to notice only one side. The one who sees only the bad destroys, first of all, himself. Anyone who bravuraly throws their hats into the air looks like a saboteur hiding the problem.
The Russian thinker Alexey Losev wrote brilliantly about this: “We know the whole thorny path of our country, we know the agonizing years of struggle, lack, suffering, but for the son of our Motherland - this is all ours, inalienable, dear" And these are not just beautiful words, but a guide to action. We accept Russia in its entirety, with all its advantages and disadvantages. Actually, Shevchuk himself once sang about this: “I’m going to my homeland, let them shout that she’s ugly, but we like her, even though she’s not beautiful...»
And one more thought. Rock is protest music. We know about this. However, today this protest is not generated by Zemfira and Shevchuk, but precisely by those who are not afraid to declare that “victory will be ours" Because this is the challenge. To whom? To the global establishment. Important idea, record it. It is not at all a protest to say that we are against war; it is much more radical to try to look at it from different positions. And say: hey, you there, who arranged all this anyway? Here is rock and roll, here is punk, if you like. And we must not forget about this, because courage is different, but, one way or another, it is a sincere feeling. Sincere – let’s fix this word as the key one. But rock and roll is alive, as we see – and this is joyful.
