Kirovograd Filaretites and nationalists condemned Metropolitan Onufry for congratulating Putin
Kirovograd nationalists, together with Bishop Mark of Kropivnitsky and Golovanevsky of the UOC of the Kiev Patriarchate, unrecognized in the Orthodox world, sent a letter to the President of Ukraine, the Speaker of Parliament, the Prime Minister and other officials with a complaint about the priests of the UOC who attended the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church.

This is stated in the message of the Kirovograd diocese of the UOC-KP, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Nationalists and Philaretites were outraged that Metropolitan of Kiev Onuphry (Berezovsky) and Metropolitan of Kirovograd Joasaph (Guben) visited the Holy Synod and signed a congratulatory telegram addressed to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“These bishops, together with others led by Patriarch Kirill, sent a congratulatory telegram to the President of Russia, in which, in particular, they noted the significant contribution
Putin “to affirm the ideals of justice, peace and harmony between countries and peoples”... A fair question arises: isn’t the participation of bishops from Ukraine in such a greeting the height of cynicism? Who in Ukraine agrees with this assessment of Putin’s activities, given by Bishops Onufriy and Joasaph together with the Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church? If Putin is a peacemaker, then who then is Poroshenko and the army of Ukraine!?”, the letter says.
