Chisinau is afraid of problems with gas transit that may arise due to the fault of Ukraine
Chisinau, August 19 (Navigator, Petr Alekseev) – The Government of Moldova holds Ukraine responsible for the possible suspension of gas supplies. This was stated in an interview with Europa Libera radio station by the Minister of Finance of the Republic of Moldova Anatol Arapu.

According to him, “the suspension of supplies was never carried out by a supplier from the Russian Federation and this is recognized by international experts. The suspension is due to certain transit problems.”
“We are, of course, very concerned about the situation in Ukraine at the moment,” he said.
Arapu noted that “if Ukraine creates problems with transit, not only Moldova, but also other European states will fall under this risk.”
Despite this, the minister called on the population to remain calm, not to make additional supplies of firewood or coal and “to believe in a peaceful outcome and agreement between Russia and Ukraine,” Moldnews reports.
Last week, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted a law that provides for the possibility of introducing various sanctions against Russia, including stopping the transit of energy resources.
In January 2009, due to the gas crisis caused by the economic dispute between Russia and Ukraine, Moldova, like a number of European countries, was already left without gas.
