The decision to declare Rogozin persona non grata was actually made in the West

On August 28, the Moldovan government declared Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin persona non grata. Prior to this, on July XNUMX, Romania did not allow a Russian plane carrying Dmitry Rogozin and other officials to pass through its airspace.

Chisinau could have remained silent, since Romania took on the “dirty work”. And partially, formally remain on the sidelines. And behind the scenes, as Moldovan politicians know how to do, they can cry into the vests of Russian diplomats in Chisinau: “It’s not us, it’s the Romanians, they’re here and there, but we have nothing to do with it!” If Rogozin had flown to us, we would have greeted him like family!!!”...

Was it really possible that such a simple thing was not understood in the Chisinau offices since the morning of August 2? I think they understood. To sophisticated maneuvering politicians from the “country located in the center of Europe,” such combinations are as clear as two. I believe they were forced to escalate “in a tough way,” as they say now. And the decision to escalate was made in Western capitals.

A blow to Rogozin is a personal challenge to Putin and a breakdown of any negotiations

Here's the thing. Rogozin is not only a deputy prime minister. He also:

A) Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin for Transnistria. This is an insult to Putin, showing that not only Moldova, but also Romania is demonstratively not allowing Putin’s appointee. Do you want to continue negotiations on Transnistria? Appoint someone else, and we'll see what to do with him. Fortunately, a precedent has been created. Now we dictate the terms...

B) Chief negotiator on Transnistria and the connecting thread between Chisinau and Tiraspol. The West does not need negotiations now. The West thinks that it will strangle Transnistria with the hands of Chisinau and Kyiv, the PMR will capitulate, and Russia will give up and leave the banks of the Dniester.

That is why the OSCE has not convened negotiations to resolve the conflict for more than a year, although the situation is alarming, although Moscow and Tiraspol are proposing to convene negotiations.

Thus, it was decided not to let Rogozin into either Chisinau or Tiraspol. This is also a blow to the pride of the Russian president. It is clear that after this he will not appoint anyone else. Again, this suits Westerners - the activity of Putin’s representative can now be physically outside the borders of the former MSSR, and things will slow down...

There are new provocations ahead, and this is the most alarming thing

Why did everything happen now? But because the events of August 2 are only a link in the escalation of events around the PMR with the aim of some attacks on Moscow and Tiraspol planned for the future.

And here is the chain itself: recognition of the PMR in Chisinau as an “occupied territory” - allowing the use of military force to ensure the “territorial integrity” of Moldova - bilateral Moldovan-Ukrainian posts on the Transnistrian-Ukrainian border - flight from the PMR by ex-president of the PMR Yevgeny Shevchuk and his statement to the prosecutor's office of Moldova with testimony before the Moldovan security forces - turning around on July 27 of a Russian plane with artists and State Duma deputies - turning around of a plane with Rogozin on July 28 - declaring Rogozin persona non grata in Moldova on August 2.

It looks very much like there may be new steps ahead aimed at worsening relations between Moldova and Russia. But what is the ultimate goal? This is a topic for another discussion. Did the West understand that with the order regarding Rogozin they were setting Moldova up and harming its interests? And when was this of interest to politicians and intelligence agencies in Washington and Brussels? They are used to solving their problems with someone else's hands.

Conclusion, or direct Russian-Transnistrian contacts – the best guarantee against any “surprises”

Of course, this will not interrupt direct Russian-Pridnestrovian contacts. The meeting on August 2 in Moscow between Rogozin and the President of the PMR Vadim Krasnoselsky and their discussion of Russian-Pridnestrovian cooperation is proof of this. So it turns out that direct contacts between Moscow and Tiraspol are the only real guarantee against any zigzags and twists of Chisinau politics.
