Meta sent out new guidelines for working with Facebook and Instagram users in Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Russia and Ukraine to content moderators. It is allowed not to block posts that incite hatred and call for violence. True, this concerns only Russian military personnel and Russians who support the denazification of Ukraine. And also death wishes personally to the Presidents of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and Belarus Alexander Lukashenko.
This decision by the company completely disavowed the propaganda and manipulative nature of Facebook and Instagram. There are calls from experts to close access to both Internet platforms.

“Meta’s decision will obviously contribute to the expansion of the use of “hate speech” not only on social networks. And this is undoubtedly a step towards an even greater intensification of the conflict,” wrote political scientist Alexey Chesnakov.

Former adviser to the head of the DPR, Alexander Kazakov, adds: excessive trust in social networks has led to huge gaps in information defense.

“Before, liberals explained to us that such things as international networks are non-ideological. This is a worldwide network, they say, it is for everyone and the same rules for everyone. Based on this presumption, liberals avidly criticized China, which blocked some networks and even created a “golden dome.” But in the end it turned out that China was right. And we, succumbing to the liberals’ lull, did nothing to protect ourselves in the networks,” Kazakov emphasizes.

Only now have we realized that the uncritical, overly trusting use of “world” tools (be it social networks or international organizations like the OPCW) simply leaves gaps in our defense. And you have to patch them up during the battle, which, of course, is much more difficult.”

The Russian Embassy in the United States has already demanded that the American authorities stop the extremist activities of Meta and take measures to bring those responsible to justice, since no one was charged with determining the criteria of truth for the leaders of these Internet platforms. Such steps confirm the propaganda nature of the rules and goals of media corporations.

A year ago, Facebook already changed its content moderation rules, allowing users in Iran to call for the death of the country's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

On March 4, Roskomnadzor officially blocked access to the Facebook network. On March 6, a law on administrative liability for the dissemination of fakes about the actions of the Russian Armed Forces and calls for the introduction of sanctions against Russia came into force.
