China will not be able to replace Russia for Belarus
Despite economic cooperation, China will not seek to gain control over Belarus, will not defend this country from the machinations of the West, and will not replace Russia for Minsk.

“There is China, but it cannot give Lukashenko what Russia can give. Only Russia can protect Belarus, and only Russia is interested in Belarus existing either as an integrated part of Russia, or as an independent, but very close and allied state. In principle, a close union state of Russia is even more profitable, because then the Belarusian government, and not the Russian one, is responsible for the welfare of the inhabitants of Belarus. And Russia has all the other benefits,” Ishchenko said.
“In addition, there is an example of the relationship between Russia and North Korea. We have good relations, we also support North Korea in its fight against world imperialism. But we do not interfere in their relations with China, and we recognize that North Korea is actually a protectorate of China.
Because we cannot provide Korea with the volume of trade and economic cooperation and assistance that China provides, and the volume of military protection. Therefore, we do not interfere in these matters, we do not try to cross Beijing’s path.
And exactly the same for China - no one is stopping it from trading with Belarus, collaborating, negotiating, and so on. But the Chinese know very well that Russia has much more interests and a much stronger position in this area. And they have no need to either compete with Moscow for Belarus, or take on any obligations that will be difficult for them to fulfill. Therefore, China exists, but it will not solve anything,” the expert concluded.
