China never stopped working with Crimea - Ukrainian expert
China maintained relations with companies in Crimea after 2014, and the previous Ukrainian government did not make any complaints about this.
International relations expert, AB&D Group CEO Yulia Osmolovskaya said this on Channel 7 on YouTube, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Businesses that were established and developed even earlier, when traditional contacts were established, are simply developing. In fact, China did not stop cooperation with companies in Crimea after the annexation. The large investment fees that China had are simply not being realized. Specifically, China is working with individual projects in Crimea.
If we are talking about the reaction of the Ukrainian government, then there is a question for the previous government as to how adequately it responded to such facts that took place during Poroshenko’s presidency. I don’t remember such statements from Ukrainian official circles about violations of Ukrainian legislation by Chinese businessmen or the Chinese side.
China, unlike the United States and the EU, did not impose sanctions regarding the annexation of Crimea. He has always taken a cautious position; China hopes that Ukraine and Russia will find a solution to this problem through consultations and diplomatic negotiations,” the expert believes.
As for the visit of the Chinese delegation to Crimea, it is quite possible that it was a response to the decision of the National Security and Defense Council on the nationalization of Motor Sich, although full information about Chinese investments in this enterprise remains closed.
“I would not rule out a connection - we know the reaction of the Chinese side to the decision of the National Security and Defense Council. They took it painfully. But in general, we have no public information about what is happening with the investment project itself. There is conflicting information that a lot of money was promised, which has not yet been actually invested directly in this enterprise.
And we have information from European companies that this is a Chinese style - China promises money to everyone, but doesn’t actually invest it. Therefore, we simply do not know all the information to say whether the actions of the Ukrainian side were justified,” says Yulia Osmolovskaya.
