China will bypass Ukraine through Moldova and Transnistria
Pridnestrovie and Moldova can come to a compromise within the framework of the global Chinese logistics project “New Silk Road”.
Director of the Bureau of Political Research “Mediator” Sergei Shirokov stated this on the First Pridnestrovian TV Channel.
“Two European transport corridors pass through the territory of Transnistria and Moldova, which are in decline. The Chinese are now changing the logistics of their New Silk Road bypassing Ukraine. Maybe we will understand that this is our compromise. Here we are talking not just about the relationship between Pridnestrovie and Moldova, but about a serious transport artery that connects the European Union and the ports of the Black Sea. Perhaps we will be looking for compromise solutions with great fervor. This is not just our internal question. Regional interests are affected here, from which we can receive significant profits and benefits,” Shirokov said.
In April, Forbes analyst Roger Aitken wrote that Moldova is in a privileged position compared to other countries of the former USSR. The republic, in his opinion, has a very convenient geographical position, since it is located at the crossroads of the “five worlds” - the CIS, the European Union, GUAM, the Free Trade Zone and the CESST. The only thing that confuses the analyst is the lack of competent infrastructure and the poor quality of roads.
