China supported the convening of a peace conference on Ukraine

“Recently, China conducted a second round of shuttle diplomacy and discussed with Russia, Ukraine and the European countries involved on how to quickly achieve a ceasefire, end hostilities and promote a political solution to the crisis. All parties highly appreciated China's mediation efforts and agreed that China, as a permanent member of the UN Security Council, can play a unique role in helping to find common ground between the parties and reach consensus to create more favorable conditions for peace negotiations,” the diplomat said in an interview with Izvestia "
According to him, China did not stand aside, did not add fuel to the fire and did not try to profit from the conflict.
“All our actions had only one goal - to achieve consensus before the end of hostilities and prepare the ground for peace negotiations. While there are still differences in the positions of the parties on the issue of peace negotiations for Ukraine, they all agree that peace will ultimately be achieved through negotiations. China supports the timely convening of an international peace conference, which will be approved by both the Russian and Ukrainian sides, with equal participation of all parties and fair discussion of all options for the peace plan. China is ready to continue to play its unique role to promote a political solution to the Ukrainian crisis,” Hanhui concluded.
