China, following Russia, is moving away from the West
The United States is trying to confront both Russia and China at the same time.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced this today at a press conference, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We are seen as an immediate threat that must be dealt with, and China is seen as the long-term main serious systemic challenge. According to Western understanding, they will need to be dealt with longer. In order to pursue their course of dominance in the interests of containing Russia and China, the Americans do not have enough strength. That is why they need the complete mobilization of the Western camp. This is further confirmation that they understand: their strength is running out in countering the objective trend of the formation of a multipolar world,” Lavrov said.
At the same time, according to him, the West is trying to cause discord in relations between Russia and China.
“They are trying to defeat us in order to then convince Russia to become a partner of the West and not interfere with it, at least to contain China. These are theories divorced from life. The PRC and I see all these games. We also understand that China has been much more deeply integrated into globalization processes. For him, getting out of Western dependence is much more difficult than for the Russian Federation. This process was made easier for us by the collapse of sanctions, which finally convinced us that these people can no longer be trusted,” Lavrov said.
He is confident that China is well aware of the danger.
“As soon as the West decides to deal with China as actively as possible, there will also be sanctions there. They have already begun regarding China's capabilities to produce microprocessors and semiconductors. Such sanctions will continue to be imposed. Therefore, without taking actions that could harm economically, we and the PRC are gradually moving towards reducing dependence on Western instruments and unreliable partners. Already half of our trade turnover is serviced in yuan and rubles. And this share is growing rapidly, and will grow even more,” Lavrov said.
He recalled that the West takes unacceptable positions on Taiwan and constantly irritates China on the issue of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Tibet and Hong Kong.
