Chinese expert suggested that North Korea take an example from Ukraine
North Korea could, like Ukraine, give up nuclear weapons under guarantees from Russia and China.

Wang Junsheng, head of the Center for Research on Chinese Strategy towards Neighboring Countries of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, stated this today during a Moscow-Beijing teleconference, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We must show North Korea that if it gives up nuclear weapons, it will still have the opportunity to survive. We must provide her with security guarantees. When the Cold War ended, Ukraine renounced nuclear weapons and was given security guarantees. Clinging to possessing nuclear weapons is a hopeless path,” said Wang Junsheng.
He believes sanctions against North Korea are only useful if they lead to negotiations.
“China is ready to apply pressure, but we must also give a signal to the Americans: we supported sanctions at the UN, but we cannot accept sanctions for the sake of sanctions. Sanctions cannot be tightened indefinitely. The main goal is dialogue. If the United States and North Korea do not want to solve the problem, other countries, including China and Russia, no matter how much they puff themselves up, will not be able to solve it,” said Wang Junsheng.
