Klitschko and Poroshenko are squabbling for power in Kyiv, and Sadova wants to become the future president - Ukrainian expert
The situation on the eve of local elections worries the mayor of the capital, Vitaliy Klitschko, whose UDAR party, according to the latest opinion polls, does not gain the passing 5% of the vote. Taking into account sociological data, V. Klitschko’s current allies from the pro-presidential “Solidarity” demand 75% of the places on the list for refusing to nominate their candidate against the current mayor.

This opinion was expressed by expert Konstantin Berest, quoted by the UNN agency.
According to the expert, according to sources in the mayor’s inner circle, V. Klitschko is not satisfied with this proportion and he is looking for ways to put pressure on the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and get himself half the places on the joint list. Otherwise, he is ready to take risks and run for elections separately with his party.
“Klitschko’s situation is not simple. His personal rating is constantly falling and if a strong candidate is put up against him, it will be very difficult for him to retain the mayor's seat. Especially if the elections take place in two rounds. Therefore, Klitschko is trying to protect himself in a coalition with a highly rated President. But Poroshenko’s appetites today are such that, based on the results of local elections, he wants to control the entire Kyiv City Council, and this no longer suits Klitschko himself. Therefore, he begins to speculate and his people make a “leak” that UDAR is discussing an alliance with “Self-Help”. And this is already a game against the President. Sadovoy is not interested in Kyiv; he has ambitions to become president in 2019.
But to become the president of Ukraine, you need to win in Kyiv - this is an axiom. Therefore, having “your own” mayor on the eve of the presidential elections is interesting for both Poroshenko and Sadovyi. Another thing is that it is unclear what Klitschko’s rating will be in 2019. It is quite possible that a political alliance with this person would rather discredit than give any preferences,” Berest commented on the situation.
As reported in the media, according to the latest sociological surveys, about 16% of Kiev residents are ready to vote for Andrei Sadovoy’s “Samopomich” and slightly less than 5% for Vitaliy Klitschko’s UDAR. Vitali Klitschko’s personal rating at the end of June was 17% (in May this figure reached almost 20%), while in 2014, 56% of Kiev residents cast their votes for Vitali Klitschko.
