This was reported by the press service of the Kyiv City State Administration, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The Economist city comfort rating consists of five categories – stability, healthcare, culture and ecology, education and infrastructure. In each category, experts give several ratings, from which the average in the category is determined, and then the overall rating of the city. The importance of each category for a person’s life is different, taking into account the magazine’s analysts. Thus, stability in the city, according to experts, occupies 25% of the total rating. They transfer the situation in the east of our country to the capital, therefore, despite the peace and safety on the streets of our city, here we have a low score - 35 points,” noted Vitali Klitschko.
The mayor emphasized that, in his opinion, this rating is a projection of experts’ assessment of what is happening in the country, the deplorable situation in Ukraine.
“After all, the war in Donbass is not in Kyiv. And she is named as one of the reasons. Problems in the economy? Kyiv is the only city in the country that shows positive development dynamics. Where there is almost no unemployment, and the infrastructure is being restored at an active pace, and innovations are being introduced for the transparency of management processes,” complains Vitali Klitschko.
In addition, the mayor noted that in the education category in Kyiv 75 points out of 100, but, according to British experts, this category is only 10% important.
“In addition, according to the cost of living rating, Kiev is one of the 10 most attractive cities in the world, so we invite The Economist experts to visit and we will prove to them that Kiev is one of the best cities in the world!” noted Vitaliy Klitschko.
Let us remind you that on August 16, The Economist magazine, in the column The Economist Intelligence Unit, presented a rating of the 140 most comfortable cities on Earth. The Australian city of Melbourne took first place in the ranking, and Kyiv took one hundred and thirty-first position - at the very tail of the ranking. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavel Klimkin then called Kyiv’s 131st place in the ranking of the most comfortable cities in the world unfair.
