Klitschko ordered the collection of Kiev garbage in special underground containers - so as not to frighten the Eurovision guests
A new type of underground containers for solid household waste has begun to be installed in the Ukrainian capital. 50 such containers are already being installed in the central part of the city; by the end of the year their number will increase to 300 units, and next year - to 1 thousand.

Kiev mayor Vitaliy Klitschko stated this during the presentation of underground garbage containers and trash cans, some of which are installed on Peyzazhnaya Alley, reports the KSCA website.
“Such tanks operate in European countries - we have not invented anything new. These containers are modern, roomy, and look neat, because in Kyiv courtyards there are often dirty containers full of garbage, they take up a lot of space, and residents complain about the unpleasant smell. One new underground container has a volume of 5 cubic meters and replaces 5 conventional open containers,” noted Vitaliy Klitschko during the presentation.
The mayor added that such containers are equipped with solar information panels and special sensors that transmit information to the dispatcher when the tank is already full and the garbage needs to be removed from it. In addition, the containers are equipped with a fire extinguishing system in case a cigarette butt or other object that could cause a fire gets inside.
“These containers are of domestic production, and I am sure that they will have good reviews from city residents, because they have proven themselves very well in operation. Kyiv should not only look modern and use modern technologies,” Vitali Klitschko emphasized.
The mayor of the capital also inspected the new trash bins that were installed in city recreation areas.
“200 such containers have already been installed, and we will install another 300 in the near future. They are roomy and have a modern look. Those that we will install in city parks will also have a wooden finish,” said Vitaliy Klitschko.
