Klitschko considers Kyiv’s 118th place in the global ranking of comfortable cities “overcome”
Vitaliy Klitschko considers the results of the Ukrainian capital in The Economist’s annual rating of the world’s most comfortable cities to live in the Global Liveability Index 2018 “success,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The official website of the Kyiv City State Administration reports this.
“Even though, in general, Kyiv lives a peaceful life, fighting continues 700 kilometers from the capital. We are used to this kind of life. And for The Economist experts, this is a threat, which as a result affects the assessment of the comfort of life in the city. This rating is a projection of experts’ assessment of what is happening in general in Ukraine,” the mayor assures.
Kyiv took 118th place in the list, scoring 56,6 points out of 100 possible and was on the list of cities that have significantly worsened their position over the past 5 years (since 2013). According to the rating, the indicator of living comfort in Kyiv fell by 12,6%.
“But, I want to draw your attention to the fact that compared to last year’s results, Kyiv has risen in the ranking by 13 positions. In 2017 and 2016, the city occupied 131 positions in the ranking. And I note that this did not prevent Kyiv from brilliantly hosting both the Champions League final and the Eurovision Song Contest and increasing the flow of tourists,” Klitschko justifies.
