About it reports the KSCA website.
“In pursuance of the decision of the City Council, we are presenting an award for the title “Honorary Citizen of Kyiv” to the person who brought another victory to Ukraine - our Jamala. And thanks to it, our state will have a chance to present itself as a European country. And Kyiv is like a European capital, which, I am sure, will worthily host Eurovision 2017,” the mayor emphasized.
“It is a great honor for me to be an honorary citizen of Kyiv. I want to continue to glorify the cultural capital of Ukraine and prove that we have amazing people,” Jamala noted and sang to the deputies the song “How can you not love, my Kiev.”
Vitali Klitschko recalled that Kyiv was the first to submit and register an application to be the host city of next year's Eurovision Song Contest.
“This is 150 pages of all the information necessary for the European side and the competition commission. But while this is being studied, we do not stop preparing and making our city more attractive and equipped. Kyiv must become better, more comfortable for its residents and those people who come to us. And next year we expect many guests. And they must represent the capital and the country at a decent level. Because Kyiv is counting on hosting Eurovision 2017 and is preparing for this event,” said the mayor of the capital.
