Klitschko got involved in a high-profile corruption scandal
The mayor of Kyiv, Vitaliy Klitschko, found himself at the center of a high-profile corruption scandal: he was spotted traveling on a charter plane in company with the owners of large construction corporations.
This is stated in the investigation of the “Schemes” program, which aired on the American Radio Liberty, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

The authors of the investigation found that Klitschko recently flew on a private Cessna plane from Naples, Italy, to Boryspil airport. Together with him was Maria Kazantseva, a former member of the supervisory board of the construction company City Capital Group. Let us remind you that this company is a builder of cottage communities, business parks and shopping complexes in Kyiv and the region.
In addition, the mayor’s traveling companion was Maxim Mikitas, a member of the Verkhovna Rada and the head of the state corporation “Ukrbud”, which is an “umbrella” for offshore companies. The state corporation is a frequent participant in scandals, the loudest of which is the construction of the “Sunny Riviera” complex on the left bank of Kyiv in a 100-meter water protection zone, in the place where, according to the general plan, there should be a park.
At the same time, Klitschko has repeatedly supported the construction of the complex and the Ukrbud corporation itself.
Also flying on the charter with the mayor of Kiev was the co-founder of the construction company Elita-Stroyinvest Company, a person involved in a construction scam in the 2000s, Vadim Stolar, who is called the “gray eminence” of Kiev, influencing personnel appointments in the capital.
He is also known for his business ties with the famous developer Vagif Aliyev.
It is noteworthy that Klitschko actively promoted the construction of the joint project of Stolar and Aliyev, “Arena Entertainment”, in Kyiv.
Journalists asked the mayor what he was doing in such a company, to which Klitschko replied that he simply met Mikitas in Nice, who invited him to get to Kiev together, while, according to Klitschko, it was the people’s deputy who paid for the charter.
“It so happened that I met him, he was flying to Kyiv, he invited me to fly with him (I needed to fly with a transfer), I agreed if I bought a ticket. The ticket cost two thousand dollars. I paid (for the plane - author) Mikitas, but I, as a law-abiding person, and so that there is no corruption, so that your “Schemes” program does not say that I am a corrupt official, I bought a ticket for this private plane from the company,” he denies from Klitschko's accusations.
