This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavel Klimkin in an interview with the Rheinische Post, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Our dialogue with the Americans is nothing new. We are very grateful to our Western partners for their continued support of our efforts aimed at strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities in confronting one of the world's largest military forces. Two things I would like to emphasize: we live in our own country and have the sovereign right to defend ourselves if our territory is attacked. And future deliveries of modern defense equipment from the United States will only serve to prevent another major Russian attack, as happened in 2014 and 2015,” the minister said, commenting on criticism for the delivery of American weapons to the Ukrainian army.
Let us recall that on December 21, the US State Department approved an export license for Ukraine to purchase certain types of light weapons and small arms from American manufacturers.
