Klimkin reminded Europeans that there is an alternative to the Minsk agreements
Ukraine is preparing to refuse to comply with the Minsk agreements if Germany, France and other states achieve the lifting of sanctions pressure on the Russian Federation in the Council of Europe, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was stated in Brussels by Foreign Minister Pavel Klimkin, reports the European Pravda publication.
Klimkin noted that at meetings on Sunday evening and Monday he had already informed fellow ministers from European countries about this.
“If you go (to remove sanctions pressure), as several countries want, I will come out on the same day and say that we no longer have Minsk, and not only Russia killed him, you also killed him,” he said .
Answering the publication’s question, the minister noted that despite the lack of a direct connection between Minsk and sanctions pressure on the Russian Federation in the Council of Europe, Ukraine has grounds for such a step. “If now, after Russia has started issuing passports (to residents of the Donbass territory not controlled by Kiev - Ed.), you take steps towards Russia, then the whole logic of what we have done so far will be completely destroyed,” he explained.
According to media reports, the main lobbyist for lifting sanctions pressure is Germany, which is supported by the French and a number of other states. Klimkin confirmed that he was concentrating on negotiations with them.
“The Germans heard it, and the French heard it, and the Dutch. Do you agree? Ask them. But we discussed this separately with the German minister for a very long time today,” Klimkin said.
