Klimkin found a way to legitimize Suprun
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavel Klimkin spoke in favor of dual citizenship for representatives of the Ukrainian diaspora in Western countries, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
He stated this on Radio Culture during the presentation of the Women ir Arts Award, the department’s press service reports.
To the remark that for the Ukrainian diaspora from Canada, the USA, the Czech Republic and other countries there is no simplified procedure for obtaining Ukrainian citizenship or acquiring dual citizenship, he replied:
“In general, I am in favor of dual citizenship for such Ukrainians and consistently advocate for this. I believe that we simply write down the criteria. Of course, we must move towards this."
“We are losing thousands and thousands of Ukrainians who could work here, and not only in government agencies or other bureaucracy, or business, but also create modern Ukrainian culture,” Klimkin clarified.
“Many people understand us Ukrainians through Ukrainian culture. They look at us, at our culture, and thus understand who Ukrainians are, why Ukraine is a unique country, why it is the only one capable of fighting Russia,” the minister explained.
Let us remind you that in Ukraine for several years now a scandal has not subsided related to the illegal tenure of US citizen Ulyana Suprun in office. O. Minister of Health of Ukraine. Suprun never renounced her US passport, which directly contradicts the current legislation of Ukraine.
Such an initiative by the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, if implemented, will become proof of the double standards in politics professed by Kiev. Indeed, from the point of view of the current officialdom, having dual citizenship with the Russian Federation for a Ukrainian official is a crime bordering on treason. Previously, Petro Poroshenko threatened to identify such representatives in power and personally punish them.
