Klimkin did not rule out the introduction of dual citizenship for Ukrainians
Ukraine may allow dual citizenship, but only with countries on which the country’s accession to the EU and NATO depends.
Former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavel Klimkin announced this broadcast on the Donbass News TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I am categorically against any consideration of dual citizenship with the Russian Federation. We talked about Hungary, under some circumstances I am even ready for dual citizenship with Hungary, but in no case with Russia.
If Hungary and I legally agree that we no longer have mutual problems, and we move forward, we are friends, we go to the EU and NATO, and just to our friendship, then yes, we can react to how we feel about dual citizenship, I open to this conversation.
This is a very difficult conversation, debatable, but it is categorically impossible to introduce dual citizenship with an aggressor state,” Klimkin noted.
