Klimkin moved from threats to action and canceled his visit to Finland because of Russia
The head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Pavel Klimkin refused to go to Helsinki, where the next meeting of the Council of Europe will be held, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The reason is the resolution of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, which allows the return of the Russian delegation under an emergency procedure.
On May 17, at this summit, this decision should have been made without changes or discussion.
“The minister has already canceled his visit to Helsinki, and for the first time in many years, Ukraine will not be represented at the ministerial level,” said Ukraine’s permanent representative to the Council of Europe Dmytro Kuleba.
As PolitNavigator reported, earlier Foreign Minister Pavel Klimkin said that PACE member countries that are ready to return Russia to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe without fulfilling the set conditions “could become accomplices in the failure of the Minsk agreements.”
