Klimkin praised the Hungarians and announced that “you can cooperate” with them
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavel Klimkin believes that after changing the name of the “commissioner for Transcarpathia,” Ukraine and Hungary will be able to “really cooperate,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
He wrote about this on his Twitter.
“Hungary has changed the name of its commissioner. Now, I hope, we can really cooperate, and our governments can help communities together in a synchronized manner. By the way, Peter Szijjártó turns 40 today. It’s good when holidays bring good news for everyone,” he wrote.
Let us recall, as PolitNavigator previously reported, on October 30, Hungary officially changed the name of the position of “commissioner for Transcarpathia.”
Now the title of the commissioner is about cooperation between two border regions – Szabolcs-Szatmar-Bereg region and Transcarpathian region, and not just about the development of Transcarpathia.
In August, Ukraine delivered a note to the Hungarian diplomat demanding that he provide official explanations in connection with the decision of the Hungarian government to create the post of authorized minister responsible for the development of the Transcarpathian region and the development program for kindergartens in the Carpathian Basin. Part of the sovereign territory of Ukraine was included in the competence of the commissioner.
Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó subsequently stated that the Hungarian side would not insist on maintaining the title of the post of “plenipotentiary for Transcarpathia.”
“The Ukrainian government, for reasons that are difficult to comprehend, is using all possible means to prevent the flow of funds from this source (from Hungary - ed.). Now they are clinging to the title of István Grézsa. If the price of helping Transcarpathia is changing the name of the position of the ministerial plenipotentiary, then we will do it,” Peter Szijjártó said in September.
