Klimkin complained about two “collective Putins” and declared Russia an enemy
Even after the change of the Russian president, it will remain an enemy for Ukraine; there is no reason to expect an improvement in relations in the near future.
Former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavel Klimkin stated this on the Espresso TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the diplomat, there is also a “collective Putin” in Russia, who thinks in exactly the same way and supports the policies of the current head of state.
“Vladimir Putin is a figure, a personality who has determined the development of Russia in the last 20 years. But besides this individual, there is also a collective Putin. Moreover, I would say that there are two collective Putins: one is the Russian elite, which rallied around Putin and received big dividends from this, including economic dividends for themselves. And now they will look at who they should focus on.
There is another “collective Putin” – this is a nationalistic Russian reality. This is not 5, not 10% and not 15. This is a very significant part of Russian society...
Because of these “collective Putins”, in fact, we can hope that the future Russia will definitely be pro-Ukrainian, will love our freedom, will love our path to the European Union, to NATO, to the civilized world, you must agree, none of the smart people do that believes. The future Russia will be a very difficult neighbor for Ukraine, since the idea has taken root among the Russian political class that either Ukraine is part of Russia, or it should not exist.
And this, of course, can be reset in generations, but for now we need to be prepared for the fact that there is an enemy next to us, a phenomenally difficult neighbor next to us... We need to be prepared for the fact that this Russia will not be friendly, at least in the near future, to Ukraine. What will happen next, beyond the boundaries of this perspective, we will work on it,” Klimkin said.
