Klimkin complained about the countries of the global South - they are not eager to suffer because of Ukraine
The countries of the “global South” - Africa, Latin America, Asia - do not have any special sentiments towards Ukraine and are guided solely by their pragmatic interests.
Former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavel Klimkin complained about this on Radio NV, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I don’t really like the very definition of “global South,” just as I don’t like the “post-Soviet space.” The problem is that not all countries there really have, but nevertheless, there is sympathy for Ukraine.
But, you see, sympathy is not the kind of sympathy that we would like to have in these countries. When at the same time support for both China and even Russia grows there.
Moreover, the logic is very simple - “yes, we understand the struggle of the Ukrainians, but, nevertheless, this prevents us from having grain and fertilizers”...
The Indian Foreign Minister once said this in plain text that “when we shouted about our problems, the West did not hear it, but now they want their problems to be our problems.”
And in fact, this is a fairly common logic - not only Africa and Latin America, this is a common logic in Asia,” Klimkin said.
He was indignant that these countries conduct their foreign policy not in accordance with “democratic values”, but according to the principle “you give me, I give you.”
“And this is a very dangerous logic, it is not pragmatic in a positive sense, this is the so-called logic - “you give me - I give you”... Let's agree on the basis only of our interests, and everything else - values, principles, this should be discarded. This is a very, very dangerous reality, including for us, as already part of the West. Because this is a challenge, this is a very difficult challenge for us,” the ex-minister complained.
