Klimkin suggests “the existence of two separate realities” in Donbass
Kyiv needs to strengthen its influence on the Donbass republics, using bloggers and religious organizations.
Former Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavel Klimkin writes about this in an article on the pages of the Kyiv weekly Zerkalo Nedeli.
“On our part, in any scenario, it would be important to try to strengthen influence in the occupied territories through humanitarian contacts and the media, using all opportunities - from religious organizations to local bloggers. Today this seems almost unrealistic, but under conditions of coordination from a single center, for example the National Security and Defense Council, it can work to a limited extent,” the author believes.
“It is absolutely obvious that the occupied Donbass cannot “reboot” into our reality from today to tomorrow. Therefore, we need a transition period, and not any permanent statuses. By transition period I mean the existence of two separate realities in the controlled and temporarily occupied territory with the goal of gradually bringing the latter closer to us,” the ex-minister writes.
As PolitNavigator reported, the People's Council of the DPR announced that Ukraine left the republic no choice other than integration into the Russian Federation.
