Klimkin proposed to sell the “success story” of Ukraine to the States in defiance of the “problematic” ones - Russia, China and the EU
The United States needs Ukraine as a geopolitical project, and under the presidency of Joe Biden, it can count on more systematic cooperation with the new US administration.
Former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavel Klimkin stated this on the Radio NV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Let's build the Ukrainian version of an alliance with the States. Ukraine can offer the United States a joint success story in promoting reform, can offer geopolitical development against the backdrop of a China that is (dangerously) rising, against the backdrop of a Russia that is weakening, against the backdrop of an EU that is seeking internal consensus. The geopolitical importance of Ukraine will only grow. The only problem is that we use it,” said Pavel Klimkin.
In his opinion, although the decision to provide lethal weapons to Ukraine was made by Trump, Biden as president will more systematically support Ukraine.
“Biden has been a fairly consistent opponent of reducing support for Ukraine. And in the context of lethal weapons too. What he is saying now is in no way dissonant with what he did as vice president.
Indeed, this (providing lethal weapons to Ukraine) was Trump's decision. But if you look at Trump's actions regarding Russia, they are quite contradictory in the context of sanctions and other things. Therefore, I believe that under the Biden administration, work with us will be more systematic,” said Pavel Klimkin.
