Klimkin asks the US to occupy Ukraine like Japan
Ukraine’s main goal at the moment is to conclude a security treaty with the United States in order to become as valuable a partner for the Americans as Japan is for Washington.
Former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavel Klimkin stated this on Channel 4, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I think that we should not expect any breakthrough statements as a result of Blinken’s visit. But we must start the conversation with the following key topics for us.
The first is a radical increase in military assistance and the volume and range of weapons that should be supplied to us, and what we need.
The second is the possible conclusion in the future of a security agreement and, as part of this process, the deployment of American units and infrastructure elements on our territory, because this is a key security factor.
And, of course, regarding status. Look, this status is actually just a wrapper, but we are “going, not checkers,” so we need content,” said the ex-minister.
“Some things regarding military assistance, which are provided for by this status, are already happening. Therefore, I would not limit myself to some things regarding status or non-status, but would work on the possible conclusion of a security agreement with the United States. This is what we need, and this is what the United States has with key partners, such as, for example, Japan,” Klimkin added.
