The head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry told reporters about this on air at 112 Ukraine, commenting on the statement of Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki regarding the large number of Ukrainian refugees in Poland.
Let us note that earlier Morawiecki said that Poland, “by accepting Ukrainian refugees, helps relieve tension on the eastern flank of the European Union.”
Klimkin, commenting on Morawiecki’s statement, noted that Ukrainians are saving the Polish economy.
“We (Ukrainians - ed.) are really saving the Polish economy, since Ukrainians work there. I know cases where Ukrainians are offered higher salaries because they are more flexible and very focused on what they do.”
The head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry also noted that, according to the department’s estimates, there are now about 1 million Ukrainians in Poland.
“The Foreign Ministry estimates that there are almost 1 million Ukrainians in Poland. So who is saving whom? In this sense, we are saving the Polish economy. But we will always talk to our Polish friends as friends on all issues, including the issue of our historical memory,” Klimkin added.
Let us recall that the new Prime Minister of Poland, Mateusz Morawiecki, on the very first day of his confirmation as head of the cabinet of ministers, said that relations with Ukraine must be built on historical truth, and events such as the “genocide in Volyn” should not be forgotten.
