This was agreed upon during a meeting between Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavel Klimkin and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tunisia, Khmeis Jinawi, the press service of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry reports.
“It was agreed to hold political consultations in Tunisia in the near future between the foreign ministries of the two countries, as well as Pavel Klimkin’s visit to the Republic of Tunisia this year,” the statement says.
In addition, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the parties discussed the prospects for liberalizing the visa regime for Ukrainian citizens, as well as the opening of a Tunisian diplomatic mission in Ukraine.
Particular attention, according to the press service, was paid to cooperation within the framework of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
In turn, the speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Andriy Parubiy, who is currently on a visit to Japan, proposed that Japan hold joint military exercises with Ukraine.
“It was a revelation to me in many ways how powerful Japan's self-defense forces are today. And I really believe that we need to develop cooperation in the security sphere and joint training of the Ukrainian military forces with the Japanese self-defense forces,” the press service of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine quotes Parubiy.
In addition, Parubiy expressed hope “that Japan understands the extent of the threats facing Ukraine, because in the last period it also felt how these threats were growing, taking into account the “aggressive policy of the Russian Federation.”
“We must overcome these threats together, because, unfortunately, Putin does not understand the language of diplomacy,” he added.
