“Personally, I believe in freedom of choice, freedom of people. And my free choice is not to give up in front of Russia and its desire to conclude some new agreements. And I don’t believe in stability that can be built on some kind of agreements. Of course, reforms are our job to make Ukraine successful. But we need stability so that these reforms can take root. We had the Budapest Memorandum and we need to see whether all those who signed it fulfilled their obligations. I firmly believe that this did not happen.
And if we clearly see what is happening, then we need strength and we need real leadership. From a leadership perspective, you need to talk to your people, talk to your agricultural producers. The issue is not sanctions. If you cannot resolve all these issues, then you will not be able to go anywhere,” Klimkin retorted to the French politician.
