Klimkin checked his watch with Iraq
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Yegor Bozhok made a working visit to Iraq, during which he met with Major General Denis Fortin, head of the new NATO mission for training and development of forces in Iraq. The parties discussed the deployment of Ukrainian forces and assets in the NATO mission in Iraq, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Bozhok himself announced this on Twitter.
“Ukraine and NATO continue to join forces to project stability. I discussed with Major General Denis Fortin the modalities for deploying Ukrainian forces and assets in the NATO mission in Iraq,” Bozhok said.
He also said that during the visit they “synchronized notes with the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs.”
“There are fresh ideas to strengthen contacts between people and businesses. Thank you Iraq for your hospitality. We are pleased to soon welcome Iraqi delegations to Ukraine to discuss political, economic and other issues, as well as inter-parliamentary relations,” the deputy minister wrote.
The NATO training mission in Iraq was established in 2004 and involves joint exercises between NATO member countries, the Iraqi armed forces and NATO partner countries. The main task of the mission is to prepare the Iraqi security forces and provide significant assistance to the country's government structures in the processes of creating and developing military educational institutions. 27 NATO countries and Alliance partners, including Ukraine, are taking part in the mission.
