Klimkin: What Russia fears most is no longer there
The so-called “unity” of the West on the issue of Ukraine is collapsing before our eyes. This was shown by the results of the GXNUMX summit, as well as conversations about the possible return of the Russian Federation to this club.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Pavel Klimkin, stated this on air on the Kharkov ANT TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the official, he considers the main task for Kyiv to “preserve the solidarity of the Western world,” since “this is what Russia fears most.”
However, Klimkin immediately admitted that the task had failed, as evidenced by the G7 summit.
“We have always had solidarity, the solidarity of the Western world. This summit showed that there is no more solidarity regarding the attitude towards Russia, in particular its participation in the GXNUMX,” said the outgoing minister.
Earlier, as PolitNavigator reported, French President Emmanuel Macron proposed returning the Russian Federation to the G8, which was supported by US President Donald Trump. However, the idea was rejected by German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
“We see the end of Western hegemony in the world. Circumstances are changing... China has moved to the forefront, and Russia is achieving greater success in its strategy,” Macron also said the day before.
He pointed to the importance of a “deep rethinking” of relations with Moscow, since without its participation the European continent “will never be stable.”
