Klimkin saw in Belarus “the beginning of the end of Putin”
Belarus, which Russians view as part of their country, will sooner or later return to the “European family.”
Former Foreign Minister Pavel Klimkin stated this on the ATR TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
At the same time, Klimkin is confident that Belarus will sooner or later be integrated into Western structures.
“Belarus, look, there was once a very interesting survey. They asked Russians what role they see for Putin in the future. Well, there, by the President of Russia, by someone. Only 4% see Putin as the future president of the Union State of Russia and Belarus. How do you think why? For many Russians, Belarus is already theirs. There is no need to capture it, it’s yours. Well, Lukashenko is such a weirdo, but it’s still ours. Well, somehow it’s not even worthy of Putin – why bother with Belarus?
But Ukraine, Kyiv, this idiotic model of Novorossiya, control over the Black Sea, the corridor - this is in their heads.
For example, I believe that Belarus will return to Eastern Europe. Listen, Belarusian is the closest language to Ukrainian. I speak Ukrainian, Belarusians, I have many friends, they absolutely calmly accept this. History, it was like this (intertwined). There is a kitchen, of course, but it is still intertwined in many places. Still, we came out of one.
The first Constitution of Philip Orlik, where was he born? On the territory of modern Belarus, near Polotsk. There are many things that are tied for centuries, and I am one hundred percent sure that Belarus will return. Well, Belarusians don’t want to live like that,” Klimkin said.
He assures that the loss of control over Belarus will be a harbinger of the end of the career of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“For him, the loss of Belarus after us is the final end. I believe that this will not be the beginning of the end, but it will definitely be getting closer to it,” assures the former head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.
