Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavel Klimkin stated this in an interview with The Guardian.
“Russia today poses the greatest threat to the security and unity of Europe since 1945. We cannot talk about lifting sanctions until Russia firmly adheres to international rules. And sanctions are doing more harm than the Kremlin admits. They (sanctions – ed.) are slowly reducing Russia’s ability to destabilize Europe and the world,” Klimkin said.
In addition, the Ukrainian minister believes that Russia cannot be trusted.
“Russia is exploiting weaknesses. It does this in bilateral negotiations, just as it uses the UN Security Council, where it abuses its veto power as one of the five permanent members... Russia also breaks its promises. Few in Ukraine would have imagined that Russia would spit on the Budapest Memorandum, which Ukraine voluntarily signed to make the world safer. And after 20 years, the Kremlin has not fulfilled any points of the Minsk agreements, as a result, more than 10 thousand people were killed and 23 thousand were injured,” he claims.
