Klimkin: Putin’s task is not to capture, but to ensure that we don’t exist
The goal of Russian President Vladimir Putin is not to seize independent Ukraine, but to make it disappear.
Former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavel Klimkin stated this on the Espreso TV channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The presenter reminded statement by the Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine, Minister for “Occupied Territories” Alexei Reznikov, that Russian President Vladimir Putin de facto recognized the republics of Donbass, calling them LPR and DPR, instead of “Separate districts of Lugansk and Donetsk regions.”
“I believe that formally and legally Putin has not yet recognized this,” Klimkin commented. – There will be a lot of speculation that he is preparing for this and will carry it out according to the Abkhaz scenario. Of course, I'm not making comparisons. The Kremlin definitely has such an option.”
“But I think Putin is her (option of the Abkhaz script – ed.) will only use it when he realizes that he won’t be able to sell it to us (Donbass – ed.) under Russian leadership, so that we pay, and he leads. And in fact, his goal is very simple: it is not to capture us, but to ensure that we do not exist,” Klimkin added.
