Klimov threatened to give Western observers a lesson in democracy
During the elections, Russia will not be guided by the assessments and wishes of biased foreign observers.
Chairman of the Federation Council Commission for the Protection of State Sovereignty and Prevention of Interference in the Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation Andrei Klimov stated this during a press conference in Moscow, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The moderator asked to comment on the presence of foreign observers at the elections.
“It is very important that people who would like to understand the situation have the opportunity to come to our country. The number of countries that will be represented through their observers and foreign experts is large, about one hundred. True, the number is constantly changing.
We have been and remain open. But it is important to understand that we do not want to do something for the sake of observers or the assessments of some foreign well-wishers. We do this for ourselves,” Klimov said.
He emphasized that the presence of observers is necessary, first of all, for other countries, including in order to learn a lesson in democracy from Russia.
“But among other things, we are confident that our electoral system is better than many others. If people watch it and take something away, I think it will be useful to them.
As for the assessments of various staff experts on democracies, since 1992 they have all been funded by the US State Department and similar structures. They do what they are instructed to do.
And we are definitely not going to make any show for them, because it is also dangerous for every state to play along with these figures who pose as independent observers,” the senator added.
