Klimov spoke about the high turnout of compatriots at the State Duma vote in 144 countries
Despite the restrictions associated with the pandemic, the number of compatriots living abroad who voted in the State Duma elections was equal to the pre-COVID indicators.
The head of the Federation Council Commission for the Protection of State Sovereignty of the Russian Federation, Andrei Klimov, stated this in an interview with Parliamentary Newspaper, PolitNavigator correspondent reports, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Our fellow citizens, people who have the right to vote and live temporarily or permanently abroad, let me emphasize, during a pandemic, in 144 countries, came to the State Duma elections, and the number of people turned out to be at the same level as in the pre-Covid 2016 elections past composition of the State Duma.
This speaks volumes about the high activity of our foreign fellow citizens. I'm not saying how they voted. What I’m saying is that they still believe that this is their Fatherland, and they should participate in political life. This is their decision, their choice,” said Klimov.
