“The clown won’t harm us” – Karasev declared Zelensky the Ukrainian Trump
Ukrainian showman Vladimir Zelensky is not the worst option for the future president of Ukraine and is unlikely to be able to do anything stupid while leading the country.
Ukrainian political scientist Vadim Karasev stated this on the NewsOne TV channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
In his opinion, supporters of the current President Petro Poroshenko, by making a fuss about Zelensky’s nomination, are only creating additional PR for him.
“I think Zelensky is an independent person. And to say that someone is behind him... In Ukrainian politics, there has always been someone behind someone, so there is no sensation here. But the fact that he is an intelligent, modern person and worthy of running for president is certainly true. I look at what is happening on Facebook now: the Facebook community loyal to the president is simply hysterical because he announced that he is running for president. You are only promoting him and giving him hype, because he is a media hero of the first days of the new year,” the expert said.
At the same time, he suggested that a new trend has opened in modern world politics towards electing “clowns” as heads of state.
“You need to be closer to people, in the end clowns win elections. And in Italy, and how much they talked about Trump as a “red-haired clown.” Maybe the trend today is that clowns win elections. And there is no need to catch up, Zelensky is unlikely to make it to the second round, Tymoshenko and someone else will be there, but not Zelensky. But if our people are ready to vote for a clown, it means that they believe in our democracy, that even a clown cannot do anything wrong here, that everything will be bad. We have a state, a state apparatus and state people, and even if a clown comes, he will not be allowed to do something stupid,” Karasev concluded.
Let us recall that earlier Ukrainian political scientist Yuriy Romanenko expressed the opinion that the pre-election situation for Petro Poroshenko becomes threatening after the nomination of Vladimir Zelensky for president, whose rating already today, according to the measurements of some companies, is ahead of the popularity of the current president.
