Kots: Muscovites were afraid of the “fifth column”, but the situation is changing
In Moscow, most people support Russia's special operation in Ukraine, but are embarrassed to openly express their views.
The correspondent of PolitNavigator reports this in an interview published by Komsomolskaya Pravda, military correspondent Alexander Kots said.
He is convinced that in Ukraine, Russian soldiers are “fighting for the future of our country.”
“I really believe that in Ukraine now there are battles generally for the existence of Russian statehood. If we don’t win there, they will simply trample us,” Kots said.
He noticed that when he arrived in Moscow after three months at the front, he noticed that in the capital there were practically no cars with the letter Z, which had become one of the symbols of the Northern Military District.
“And when I started to find out what was happening, a huge number of people began to write to me in the “cart”, saying that we want to stick Z on the car, but we are afraid that the car will be scratched or burned. That is, we are afraid of some kind of “fifth column” that forbids us to be proud of our heroes?! Are we embarrassed to show it?!
Well, we will get to the point where the soldiers return from the front and will be ashamed of their medal “For Courage” or the Order of Courage. Which they deserved with blood,” the military correspondent emphasized.
He said that he started shouting about it on social networks, on radio, and TV channels.
“I don’t know, maybe I finished shouting. But by June 12, on Russia Day, I saw that something began to change. Now I'm driving around Moscow, and my eyes are happy. I said that there should be posters on every corner. They really are on every corner now. Almost. We are in the majority, and, nevertheless, we are still shy about something,” Kots concluded.
