As long as the generation that saw the war is alive in Donbass, the region will not be returned to Ukraine. Western Ukrainian journalist Ruslan Kotsaba stated this on the air of the Lviv TV channel “ZiK”.

According to him, the Ukrainian army became criminal by starting the war in Donbass.

“The point of no return has already been passed. There is still a generation alive that saw all these destructions by the Ukrainian army, which, by the way, illegally destroyed the civilian population, because the army has no right to fight against its own people, destroyed the civilian population in Donetsk and Lugansk. For these 20 years we have lost Donbass. Even if we have better financial stability, they will not want it, because they are living witnesses to how Ukraine behaved vilely towards its citizens,” Kotsaba said.

He believes that the militias in Donbass are the same heroes as the UPA for the residents of Galicia.

According to him, for the residents of Donbass, neighboring Russia is closer than the preferences of the “Westerners,” who, moreover, do not hesitate to accept Romanian citizenship and the “Pole’s card,” but are not considered separatists.

“They are essentially the same as the UPA was for us - they defend their home, their family, their thinking. They need to be convinced, not shot at. This is an idea, you can’t fight with it with a machine gun... They have Russia nearby. From them to Russia there are 100 kilometers, and to Galicia a thousand. They are historically closer to Russia, they have family living there... If you are guided by the information - 35 thousand Romanian passports, 150 thousand Pole cards, what are we talking about?” – Kotsaba said.
