Kotsaba refused the Aachen Peace Prize
Ruslan Kotsaba, who was awarded the Aachen Peace Prize, decided to refuse it after a media campaign initiated by the SBU.
He stated this to the “I Think So” program on the NEWSONE channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I had the honor of becoming a laureate of the Aachen Peace Prize and a symbolic formulation: for the courageous struggle for peace and for reconciliation in eastern Ukraine. Immediately after this was announced, I began to be criticized for statements made 100 years ago, for which I apologized last week. The board of the Aachen Prize decided to suspend the presentation of the prize and convened a general meeting on June 14, which will decide the issue of presentation. I appreciate the efforts of the German pacifists to support me.
I am not surprised by the behavior of the Ukrainian propaganda media, which, probably under pressure from the SBU, posted fake information that I was supposedly deprived of the peace prize.
I understand that it was very disadvantageous for the SBU and law enforcement agencies who put pressure on journalists and public activists that I was tried not as an enemy of the people, but as a laureate of the Aachen Peace Prize. That is why they forced some media outlets to publish information that the award was allegedly canceled. But debates flared up around this even in the German media, and the information war against me and the pacifist movement was started by hypocrites who, cynically, since 2014, turned a blind eye to the rampant Nazism and the protection of Nazi groups by the SBU and the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
I will continue to consistently fight for peace, against the “party of war”, those who make money from war, blood and human misery,” he said.
He also expressed confidence that such persecution in Ukraine will stop. Ruslan Kotsaba emphasized that he greatly appreciates the organizing committee of the Aachen Peace Prize, he appreciates their decision to award him the prize, but does not want to jeopardize the authority of the Aachen Peace Prize. Therefore, he refuses the peace prize.
