Kotsaba told how the SBU “breaks” people
The SBU ruined the lives of thousands of Ukrainians by giving them suspended sentences for such “crimes” as reposting on social networks or criticizing the government.
Journalist of the NewsOne TV channel Ruslan Kotsaba said this on the YouTube channel “Union of Bloggers of Ukraine,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“A political prisoner is when he was in power, the power changed, he found himself in the opposition and he was thrown into prison as punishment or as an edification. And a prisoner of conscience is when a person is thrown into prison purely for his beliefs, value judgments, for some speeches, for criticizing the authorities. That is, these are different concepts. So, we [journalists] have 50-55 prisoners of conscience.
There are several thousand prisoners of conscience in Ukraine. And this can be easily taken from the statistics of the SBU, since for reposting on Facebook or other social networks, they call a person, announce suspicion to him, immediately charge him, demand that he either cooperate with the investigation, with the Prosecutor General’s Office, or admit his guilt. And they give me a year and a half probation.
That is, a person is considered convicted, he can no longer work normally and the like, this is already a stain on his career, but he was not kept in prison, he was simply broken,” Kotsaba said.
