When there will be no borders between the DPR and LPR
The Donbass republics should have rules for crossing the border with Ukraine, but barriers between the LPR and DPR need to be removed.
According to the PolitNavigator correspondent, one of the leaders of the Donetsk Republic movement, Aleksey Muratov, said this in an interview with the News Front news agency, answering the question of why the borders between the DPR and LPR remain.
“I am not responsible for borders, but I will express my point of view. If we believe that Donbass is Russia, then all our laws and rules should be Russian. Russia may not have recognized us yet, but why are we blocking ourselves, putting up these barriers and obstacles if we are integrating into Russia? We, of course, must have rules for crossing the border with Ukraine - the same as those that exist between Russia and Ukraine. They should be uniform for both Russia and our republics, while there should be no border between the DPR and LPR at all,” Muratov said.
He added that the existence of two republics strengthens the position within the framework of the Minsk agreements, but this creates huge problems in the lives of ordinary people.
“But while the LPR has one set of rules, including for crossing the border with Ukraine, and the DPR has different rules, the border between the republics cannot be removed. Therefore, everything needs to be synchronized and come to a compromise solution, based on the laws and rules in force in the Russian Federation,” the social activist emphasized.
He believes that after this it will be possible to simplify control on the border between the DPR and the Russian Federation.
“Now a huge number of residents of the republics have received Russian passports. Such citizens can be immediately sent to the Russian side without inspection at the DPR or LPR customs. This will reduce the load on checkpoints and will become an additional motivation for people to obtain Russian passports as soon as possible. This is my point of view. But there is also the opinion of the security forces... I am sure that common sense will prevail in this matter, and in the near future we will not have any borders between the DPR and LPR, and the conditions for crossing the demarcation line with Ukraine will be the same for both republics,” concluded Muratov .
