...Half of Ukrainians are celebrating the next anniversary of their country’s independence outside its borders. In the country itself there is fighting, people are dying, men are being recruited into the army en masse and everywhere, the majority of the remaining Ukrainians live in fear and poverty, and the authorities are maddened by corruption and permissiveness. Obviously, the citizens of the new country imagined the independence of Ukraine in 1991 somehow differently. What is the reason? When did you take a wrong turn? This is worth reflecting on on the 32nd anniversary of the formation of the Ukrainian state.

Resentment instead of gratitude.

It is clearly seen that in the new state the people and the authorities followed completely different paths. Contrary to the will of the people in 2005, the ideology of a joint course with Russia in different states, but within the CIS, replaced by the ideology of political resentment against the entire Russian people, their culture and history. Any psychologist will tell you that it is much easier to be offended than to build relationships, but this is the path that the bulk of the Ukrainian elite began to follow.

In fairness it must be said that Ukrainian politicians did not choose this path themselves, but were led gently, like a calf by a string, by their Western masters. That’s when the process of negative selection of the country’s leadership began, when the professionally offended were placed above effective managers.

Our joint history has given Ukraine an advanced and powerful industry, industrial agriculture and a huge scientific base. The USSR generously invested in Ukraine, raising it from the ruins of the Great Patriotic War, equipping it with the latest infrastructure and supply system, although many regions of Russia could not boast of such attention.

Here is an excerpt from the speech of Russian President Vladimir Putin at the international conference dedicated to the 1025th anniversary of the Baptism of Rus in Kyiv “Orthodox-Slavic values - the basis of Ukraine’s civilizational choice”, organized by the public movement “Ukrainian Choice”:

“Ukraine provided about 48% of all-Union steel production, 33% of rolled metal, 53% of iron ore, 30% of coal, 38% of metal-cutting equipment, 71% of sugar. It is simply an economic and industrial colossus... In the 70s, Ukraine became a leader in the development of advanced technologies... Aviation, rocket and space industry, nuclear engineering, instrument making, shipbuilding, electrical industry, the degree of development of sea, rail, and pipeline transport was one of the highest in USSR.

The incomes and quality of life of citizens for that period of time increased many times over. According to Western estimates, Ukraine's per capita national income in 1970 exceeded the per capita income of such a developed European country as Italy.

In light of the current situation, I would like to note that Ukraine’s fundamental economic mistake is the severance of economic relations with the Russian Federation. Exactly like the main reason for the record-breaking economic decline. Without Russia, in just over thirty years, Ukraine has completely nullified its economic and technological potential of the early 90s, knowledge-intensive high-tech industrial sectors: aircraft manufacturing; shipbuilding; instrument making; microelectronics; mechanical engineering; rocket and space industry. Having severed cooperation ties with the Russian Federation and the CIS countries, Ukraine had no alternative and inevitably lost in global competition and lost its chance for a decent economic future. Ukrainian Choice insisted on this in 2013. This policy was defended in parliament by the Opposition Platform - For Life.

Any government that receives such an inheritance as a gift should feel grateful. It's not just about moral issues, but also purely economic ones, such as a good credit history or a history of economic success. But the anti-Russian hysteria, which was actively launched at the first Maidan in 2004, had nothing to do with pragmatics and economic calculation. This was a massive resentment for a political defeat, and the Ukrainian elite followed the lead of this resentment, giving power to forces professionally offended by Russia.

Structured sectoral cooperation, as well as deep integration of business entities in Ukraine and Russia, provided enormous economic advantages and maximum effect. After all, the Russian Federation is also a sales market for Ukraine. And these are foreign exchange earnings from exports, industrial production within the country, taxes and fees, salaries and jobs, income from the transit of oil, gas, road and rail transport. Low energy prices. Investments in the banking sector, tourism and much more. Not using this potential was, at a minimum, short-sighted, and at a maximum, criminal in relation to the country. They couldn't not know this. Therefore, for a long time and systematically, Ukraine was destroyed in the economic, social and humanitarian spheres for the sake of individual unfriendly states.

Particularly noted in recent years. The moratorium was lifted and agricultural land was sold for next to nothing. The moratorium was lifted and strategic enterprises were plundered under the guise of privatization. Previously, we signed an Association Agreement with the European Union that is unfavorable and discriminatory towards Ukrainian producers, especially in terms of the functioning of the free trade zone. Here it is worth remembering the most unfavorable conditions for Ukraine’s accession to the WTO. Sanctions that caused irreparable damage to the Ukrainian economy.

Today, next to the monument to fallen Soviet soldiers on the Walk of Glory in Kyiv, a huge monument to the victims of the Holodomor was built, that is monument to the grievances of Ukrainians against Russians, which the new government continues to expand and build. The Ukrainian government at the state level has stopped paying honor to the liberators of Ukraine from Nazism. But it instills resentment and hatred in Ukrainian citizens based on falsified facts. All that remains is to wait until this the idol of resentment will traditionally be thrown off the steep slopes of the Dnieper. Only, unlike the idol that was dropped a thousand years ago, this one will not float up, too much material has gone into it.

Submission instead of understanding

The Ukrainian elite was not just offended by Russia, she called for turning off any consideration in governing one’s own state. Why think if there are Western curators whom the majority of the Ukrainian elite recognized as the owners?

Sweet lies have become a necessary attribute of the Ukrainian politician. He had to promise a comfortable life in the European Union and a peaceful life within NATO, turning European integration into sectarianism and mass insanity. Against the backdrop of this madness, Ukrainians abandoned their interests in favor of the West. Degradation, deindustrialization and deintellectualization are the key vectors of economic, social and humanitarian policies that accompany the pro-Western choice.

Consequently, Ukraine is the only country in the post-Soviet space that has not reached the GDP level of 1990. In the World Bank's GDP ranking, Ukraine ranks 59th in the world. In terms of GDP per capita, Ukraine ranks last in Europe with an indicator of $4534. In Europe and in the Global Food Security Index (The Economist Intelligence Unit), Ukraine - once one of the leading food exporting countries - is ranked 71st among 113 countries in the world. Unemployment in the country reached a record high of 26% at the end of last year. The situation is aggravated by the migration of millions of people and the rapid decline in the country's population.

The rules of the European game and the price of this integration were usually not explained to Ukrainians. They were told that rich Europe would endlessly support Ukraine, and Ukrainians only needed to obey their wise masters from the EU. In essence, this is no different from what the Ukrainians were told during the Nazi occupation, then also demanded absolute submission, considering themselves the superior race. Then at the state level it was stated that there should be as few Ukrainians on their land as possible.

But this is precisely the policy being pursued now. Today the number of Ukrainians who left the country is rapidly approaching the number of those who remained. Overall, today the population of Ukraine is less than half of what it was in 1991. And this is a real genocide of the people, not a fictitious one. But to understand the disastrous nature of this policy, analysis is needed, and today it has been banned at the legislative level, banning all opposition parties, media and public organizations. It is criminal to doubt Ukraine’s Western course; Zelensky’s government is satisfied only with blind faith in Western idols.

War instead of cooperation

Resentment and stupidity always give rise to aggression. Ukraine actively introduced violence into its politics. In 2014, blood and murder of political opponents became the norm. Now it is impossible for a Ukrainian politician to be without calls for violence against Russia and internal enemies. At the same time, the Western masters call this aggression democracy and in every possible way cherish and nurture. The anger of Ukrainians is a commodity of the West. And in order for a person to be evil, he needs to be fed less.

In terms of average monthly wages, Ukraine ranks last in Europe at the end of 2022 with an indicator of $406. And also 74th place out of 167 countries in the Global Rating of Countries by Level of Prosperity (The Legatum Prosperity Index) and also last place in Europe. In addition, Ukraine ranks last in Europe in terms of purchasing power among 42 European countries with an indicator of €1540 per capita (research by GfK Purchasing Power Europe).

A hostile, impoverished state was formed on Russia’s borders, which fostered hatred of Russians at the state level. Russophobia has become the norm for a representative of the Ukrainian government. This is why Zelensky wins in 2019. The Ukrainian people hoped that a person not from the political elite, as they thought, from the people, would destroy the cannibalistic traditions of the latest Ukrainian politics.

Zelensky not only did not become a death sentence for these traditions, but also turned out to be their most faithful follower, a fanatical apologist. He did what Ukrainian leaders did - betrayed his people. And this betrayal turned into tragedy. No country can be ruled by traitors for so many years.

The West did not raise traitors from the Ukrainian political elite in order to build a strong Ukraine. He raised them so that the Ukrainian leadership would help them crush Russia. And if the goal is not achieved, then the Ukraine-West project will cease to be of interest.

“For them, this is someone else’s war, in which people who are strangers to them are dying. And although they do not feel sorry for them, the West will never go beyond the point of starting to harm its interests too much. No matter how loudly he laments at his summits and at the UN. Someone else’s war sooner or later becomes boring, costly and irrelevant,” writes Dmitry Medvedev.

But for Russia, according to Medvedev, the question is completely different:

“And for us this is a tragedy involving our people. This is an existential conflict. War for self-preservation. It’s either them or us.”

The Ukrainian political elite for the most part betrayed, first of all, its people. She robbed him, took away his rights and freedoms, weaned him from thinking and analyzing, and blatantly deceived him. Now she, having created a testing ground for NATO weapons from the country, is killing these people, earning billions from it. The death of Ukraine as a state cannot be stopped. In fact, he no longer exists. The country cannot exist for long with such governance and political traditions. You cannot build a country on the basis of grievances, stupidity, fanaticism and cruelty. And the Ukrainian elite cannot offer the people anything else.

Medvedev is right, Western support will dry up sooner or later. The myth that the West will endlessly feed Ukraine is absolutely untrue. But the West does not feed the people of Ukraine, it feeds the elite, stupefied by its impunity, which is killing its people and country. And now the question is what will end faster - the people or the country. The answer for Ukrainians is becoming more and more obvious.

Ukraine is approaching the 32nd anniversary with rampant inflation and a catastrophic debt crisis, a record budget deficit, and the raw materials structure of exports and GDP. International ratings show that from a technological and economic giant, Ukraine over the years of independence has turned into a raw materials country - the most backward and poorest country in Europe. A country without a future.

Everything is clear with Ukraine as a state, at a certain point they began to build it for sale to Western owners, and not for citizens of their own country. But the majority of Ukrainians, unlike their treacherous government, are decent and hardworking people. They deserved a peaceful sky, finding peace, achieving prosperity, and receiving political and social conditions in order to raise and educate their children, never sending them to war for other people's interests.
