“When Ukraine returns to Crimea, even its haters will be happy” - Babin
Ukraine will return to Crimea in the difficult times that will come for the inhabitants of the peninsula after the collapse of Russia.
The former “representative of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea,” international lawyer Boris Babin, stated this on the air of the “Direct” TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Unfortunately, today, like a year ago, like three years ago, we cannot boast of the general position of all authorities, society regarding the plan for the de-occupation of Crimea or at least the necessary urgent means of what we should do here, waiting or preparing, or doing everything in our power for de-occupation.
As a small matter, we have a law on the free economic zone of Crimea, approved in 2014. While it is in effect, any talk about de-occupation is hot air,” the lawyer said.
“Okay, canceled, what next? What difference did it make? – asked the TV presenter of the program, Ukrainian propagandist Mykola Veresen.
“This increases economic pressure,” Babin replied.
The TV presenter heatedly disagreed with his interlocutor.
“The Russian budget sends money. If there is no Ukrainian money there, he will send a little more; for Russia it will still be little money. So, we are still not addressing the issue of real reintegration. I have a feeling that it is impossible to solve it other than simply declaring at different platforms - at the UN, OSCE, somewhere else, saying that this is our land.
Actually, the same way the Estonians, Latvians and Lithuanians did after the Second World War. But nothing changed until the Soviet Union died. In other words, no matter what anyone yaps, when the existence of the Russian Federation in this form ceases, then Crimea has a chance to return to Ukraine,” Veresen explained.
“I sadly expect that when the Ukrainian government comes to Crimea, it will be welcomed even by those who hate it, because there will be such a situation there that the Ukrainian government will be the salvation of everyone. Because there are always collapses of the Russian Empire, they, as they say, are not very comfortable for the population that falls under the distribution,” Babin said.
