Koktebel Jazz Party is postponed by decision of the organizers
The organizing committee of the Koktebel Jazz Party festival, the founder and president of which is Russian journalist Dmitry Kiselev, announced the postponement of the event this year.
The twentieth jazz festival was to be held in Koktebel from August 19 to 21, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“For the Koktebel Jazz Party, 2022 was supposed to be a landmark year and combine two big anniversaries - the 100th anniversary of Russian jazz and the 20th season of jazz in Koktebel,” the organizers said in a statement. – However, taking into account the current geopolitical situation, we decided to postpone the dates of the festival. We are confident that our viewers will support this decision. As soon as new dates are determined, we will announce them on the official Koktebel Jazz Party resources.”
The Koktebel Jazz Festival has been held since 2003. After the reunification of Crimea with Russia, the festival changed its name, as Kiselev’s Kyiv partners claimed the rights to Jazz Koktebel. However, even in 2014, foreign performers came to the event, declaring that jazz is beyond politics, like any art.
In 2017, the guest of the festival in Koktebel was Russian President Vladimir Putin.
