“The most active clashes took place in the area of the settlements of Debaltsevo, Chernukhino and Kalinovka. At the beginning of the day, Kalinovka, adjacent to Debaltsevo on the western side, was liberated,” said DPR Deputy Defense Minister Eduard Basurin.
“Thus, the ring around this city, where up to eight thousand security forces are located, has actually shrunk to its borders,” he explained.
“DPR militia units continue fighting during the blockade of Ukrainian troops in the Debaltsevo cauldron. In the morning, suffering massive losses in manpower and equipment, the enemy attempted to escape the encirclement. However, they all turned out to be unsuccessful. Under crossfire they were driven back from the approaches to the city and retreated to Debaltsevo. The strategically important road to Artemovsk is still under the control of the militia,” Basurin noted.
As PolitNavigator reported, the DPR stated that this morning an attempt was recorded to leave Debaltseve by Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers. Four units of military equipment and a staff infantry fighting vehicle tried to leave as part of a convoy of civilian vehicles.
