Kolesnichenko threw a stone at Chaly: Crimea will integrate into Russia faster than Sevastopol
Crimea and Sevastopol reintegrated into Russia in different ways, and the republic's method proved more successful. This was stated today at the plenary session of the scientific conference “Potemkin Readings” at Northern State University by Vadim Kolesnichenko, a former deputy of the Verkhovna Rada, associate professor of the Sevastopol branch of Moscow State University.

“Crimea retained the entire structure of management of the political elite and began to adapt it to the Russian Federation. Sevastopol followed a different pattern - romantic. A new elite was created as an attempt to integrate into Russia. Both Crimea and Sevastopol have difficulties, but Crimea is moving more successfully in terms of the legislative framework and program adaptation. Probably because a larger territory always attracts more attention,” Kolesnichenko said.
At the same time, in Sevastopol, according to him, there are “constant political battles.”
“The population of the city was more “charged” than the residents of Crimea for reunification with Russia, but now they are beginning to feel a certain disappointment. Material difficulties leave their mark. We expected these difficulties, but were not ready for blockades from Ukraine,” Kolesnichenko said.
He believes that the process of reintegration of Crimea and Sevastopol into Russia will end in 3-4 years, and the two regions will be united by a common military infrastructure.
“The military component will be the unifying factor for Crimea and Sevastopol. The fate of Sevastopol and Crimea is a defense outpost of the Russian Federation,” Kolesnichenko said.
